“Warriors: Omen of the Stars #2: Fading Echoes” by Erin Hunter is the story of three cats Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Dovepaw, who must save the forest from the evil influence of several long-dead cats. These three cats have been specially selected by Starclan to receive special powers. A long time ago, Firestar, the Thunderclan leader, received a prophecy that foretold that three kin of his kin would be granted special powers. Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Dovepaw are those mentioned in the prophecy. Jayfeather can walk in other cat’s dreams, Lionblaze cannot be injured in battle, and Dovepaw can extend her senses beyond normal. They are The Three.
When Dovepaw’s sister starts receiving dreams from “Starclan,” Dovepaw thinks something is amiss. Dovepaw and her sister have never had any connection to Starclan through dreams before, so this comes as a surprise to Dovepaw. Soon thereafter, Ivypaw (Dovepaw’s sister) receives another dream that says that Thunderclan must take back a piece of territory from a rival clan. However, Dovepaw believes that these were not dreams from Starclan but from Dark Forests. Will it be too late to prevent a battle that should not happen, or will evil make its way into the forest?
Erin Hunter has written many Warriors books (four series) about four clans of cats that have constantly changing alliances and even wars. The cats’ ultimate enemy is the twolegs (humans) who have destroyed the cats’ original habitat and continue to terrorize the cats and threaten them with monsters (cars, bulldozers etc…). This book, like all her others, ends with a cliffhanger and you will be reaching for the next book. An interesting factoid about Erin Hunter is that she is not one but three people. That’s why the Warriors books keep coming out so fast.
I would recommend this book to people who like cats and adventure. “Warriors: Omen of the Stars #2: Fading Echoes” by Erin Hunter was a very intriguing book and once you pick it up you won’t want to put it down until you finish it. This is the most recent book in a long Warriors saga, but it was so well written that you can just pick it up and start reading. I can’t wait for the next book.
