“The Night Before Christmas” is the classic tale that we all know, but this version contains unique, imaginative illustrations drawn by Richard Jesse Watson.

Cayden:  “We know this story I think but the book looks different this time.”

Max: “Santa!”

Cayden:  “Yes, there he is!”

Cayden:  “Look at all of those tire tracks in the snow!  Some of them are kind of curvy.  I don’t think that person can drive very good!”

Max:  “Kids sleeping.”

Cayden:  “Why do all three kids sleep in the same bed?”

Cayden:  “Look at the lines on the daddy’s hand.”

Cayden:  “Santa’s sleigh looks like a rocket ship!”

Max:  “Zoom! Zoom!  To moon!”

Max:  “Vacuum!  Vacuum!”

Cayden:  “The elves are vacuuming him because he is dirty from going down the chimney and they don’t want him to get the floor dirty.”

Cayden:  “Now I think his sleigh looks like a train!”

Cayden:  “That is a good story about Santa coming to someone’s house.  Santa’s sleigh looked really cool!  My favorite part was watching all of the elves help him.  There were a lot of them!”

Parent’s comments:
The story of “The Night Before Christmas” is obviously not a new one, but the illustrations in this version are!  Each page features wonderful and creative takes on the classic tale.  From the wrinkles on Santa’s face to the curls in his beard, each page contains such remarkable, vivid detail.  This book by Clement C. Moore is an excellent, modernized version of the original.
