Carole P. Roman does it again with her children’s book “The Crew Goes Coconuts!” I am not sure if I am more impressed with the illustrations or the actual story! My son goes crazy for Captain No Beard. He always gets excited to see that there is a new story. We have even shared Captain No Beard stories at his preschool. The other children respond very well and love the pirate talk!
In the sixth edition of the Captain No Beard series, this book introduces Matie the goat. Matie is just joining the crew aboard the Flying Dragon. With the arrival of Matie, the other mates are not being very nice and are bulling Matie. This does not make Cayla very happy and she suggests that they go play on the other side of the boat.
This story touches on bulling and in this day and age, we need our children to respond to this issue with love and compassion. Hopefully spreading this message will help stop this horrible thing happening to our children in our schools.
Miles: We love Captain No Beard! I love every story. It makes me want to be nice to my friends. I think the goat has funny looking teeth. Mom says I have to be nice to my friends and I am glad that Cayla was nice to Matie. I don’t want to be sad. I want my friends to like me too. I won’t be mean to them. I won’t, I promise.
