In “If You Were Me and Lived in… Portugal” by Carol P. Roman I learned that Portugal is one the oldest countries in Europe, it has the Atlantic Ocean on the west and Spain on the east. This book will also tell you about the capital city, which is Lisbon, and many other things. Things like if you’re a boy or a girl, one of the names would be Alfonso or Leonor, and will tell you an easy way to pronounce the names.
Their language is Portuguese and one of their symbols is a colorful rooster, and the coin that you will need to purchase it is the euros. Also you would learn what would be your favorite place to go on vacation, which is Azores and is a chain of nine volcanic islands, and a natural paradise! The food that you will eat most is fish and bacalhau, a salted cod that is very popular. Arroz con mariscos is rice with lots of seafood. Soccer is their favorite game, and ping pong was invented there too. You will learn how big the celebration of the Carnevale is, and how they prepare and dress in costumes.
I liked “If You Were Me and Lived in… Portugal” by Carole P. Roman very much. It has a little of everything of this great country. Another travel guide for kids, love
