It’s cold and icy and the crew is freezing in “Captain No Beard and the Aurora Borealis” by Carole P. Roman. The crew just found out from their Captain that they are headed on a journey to take away something without permission!
Hailey and the crew are not happy to hear that the Captain wants to take something that does not belong to them. Hailey assures Captain No Beard that she is not that kind of pirate. Come to find out it was the Aurora Borealis that the captain wanted to take home. Everyone knows that you can’t take home the sky. Hailey has a great idea! When they return to Alexander’s bedroom, they pull out the crayons and make their own.
Miles: It is not ok to take stuff. My mom always tells me I have to give it back. I took crayons from school and my mom was upset. I had to apologize to my teacher. But my teacher wasn’t mad. I have to ask permission or I will get in trouble. I do not like time out. I don’t think stealing is nice.
Captain No Beard did not have a good idea. I am glad he could make his own Aurora Borealis. It is very pretty. I am going to make my own too.
