“My Fingerpaint Masterpiece” by Sherrill S. Cannon is a story about a boy who is in art class at school doing a paint job with his hands and fingers.
He was trying to paint his dog, but it turn out very colorful, time came up and he had to stop and wash his hands and forgot to put his name on his painting.
He started walking home with his painting in his hands. It got very windy and the paper flew away. He tried to reach and chase it, but it ended up on a pile of other paintings that an artist had at the front of the art dealer’s store. The man did not see when the painting landed on the top and just took them all together to the inside of the store. The boy wanted to go inside but it was going to be too hard to explain so he decided to just go home. He got in trouble because he was late from school. A few days later they went to the mall and saw his painting on the wall at contest in a gallery. The judges started to look at all paintings and there was one who was looking at his painting, trying to see what it was. They looked up, down, and on all sides trying to guess what it was, and they really liked it, but they did not know what it was because his painting was never finished. The boy wanted to say that it was his dog, but was afraid they would laugh at him. Finally, they decided that it was the best painting and put a blue ribbon on his painting without a name. It was a blue ribbon winner. The boy just said to everyone that it was his dog and told them the story of his painting in his art class at school, and of course they did not believe him.
I loved “My Fingerpaint Masterpiece” by Sherrill S. Cannon. The story and the rhyming, and the colors on the pictures are so nice. I hope that everyone remembers to put their names on their art work. You never know!
