Mom: “My Family is Different” by Jessica Marie Baumgartner is a short story of a little girl who explores through her friends different religious beliefs. In the world today, our children will meet many different races, cultures and backgrounds. Every family will have their own spiritual beliefs and this book reminds us that being different is good and it is ok.
There is nothing more important for my child to know that the way that we believe may not be the same as the children in his class and that is ok, there is nothing wrong with being different. Teaching my child to love others no matter if they believe in something or nothing at all is my top priority. There are no two families the same. The one thing that we do have in common is that we are all humans and we have the freedom to choose what we want to believe and share with others.
Miles: I liked the book. The pictures are fun. I believe in God. I love Jesus too. It’s ok to be different and my mom says that is ok. I liked the pictures too.
