“Origins Rising” by Eric Andreas follows the lives of Tor, an Erdwon, and Himmel, a Skywon on their adventures in the land of Athiopia. Millions of years after an asteroid impact devastated the planet, humans evolved into three distinct species. The Feshwons took to the water, the Skywons to the air, and the Erdwons to the plains. For as long as anyone could remember, the three races had remained separate. However, evil threatens this peaceful arrangement. Will the races survive the coming conflict?
In addition to the other two races, the Skywons are split into Dayflyers and Nightflyers. The two Skywon branches feuded over territory for generations. In an attempt to restore peace, the Dayflyer King, Himmel’s father, Opteryx, invited the Nightflyer King to the great Sun Festival. All seemed well in the world, but the Nightflyers had other plans that all 3 races would be caught up in. Will Tor and the Erdwons survive the coming clash of Skywons?
The book was rather slow to start, but drew me in as I read. Some of the conversations didn’t flow very well, but were still pretty easy to understand. It would have been nice to get a bit more information on the races.
I would recommend “Origins Rising” by Eric Andreas to anyone who like adventure books. It was a pretty quick read and quite engaging. Overall, this was a great book from a first time author. This is the first book in a series, and I can’t wait for the sequel.
