Cousins, Alexander and Hallie, jump into the bed and are transformed into a vibrant voyage as pirates! Taking three stuffed animals with them, they become mates! Each page is filled with Captain No Beard (Alexander) and his First Mate Hallie’s learning adventure on what it is to be a pirate. “Captain No Beard: An Imaginary Tale of a Pirate’s Life” by Carole P. Roman is packed with beautiful artwork
We learn that “shiver me timbers” means “oh, my goodness” and that being captain is super hard work. Captain No Beard has to make sure the deck is clean and his mates are safe. When the waves get a little rough, he helps Hallie get back on board safely just in time to see the mermaid!
The mermaid insisted that the room was a mess and that they had to get it all cleaned up before dinner! Mom’s pants have bell bottoms that make her look like a mermaid! So creative!
Miles loves pirates and saying “Arg!” This book is great for any kid that wants to get in touch with their pirate side and leads them to use their imagination to create fun right at home in their own bedroom! We must also clean up our messes when we are done!
Great book and Miles adored it! He wanted to read “Captain No Beard: An Imaginary Tale of a Pirate’s Life” by Carole P. Roman over and over.
