“Fancy Nancy’s Fabulous Fall Storybook Collection” by Jane O’Connor is a wonderful assortment of six stories, about a fabulous little girl named Fancy Nancy.

“Fancy Nancy…Halloween or Bust” is the first story in the collection.  Halloween is a holiday Fancy Nancy loves, because it is all about dressing up. You could be a butterfly or a glittering snowflake; with Fancy Nancy’s imagination anything is possible. This year Fancy Nancy is going as a bunch of grapes made from balloons and she even used grape bubble bath, so she would smell like grapes as well. At the party there was a robot, a pirate and even a lion tamer. Fancy Nancy’s friend Bree, came as a strawberry. But then things started to go wrong and before you know it, Fancy Nancy’s costume is ruined. That doesn’t stop her though and after some punch and candy she has a wonderful idea, and her party isn’t ruined after all. The girls loved all the Halloween dress up and couldn’t wait to get to the next story.

"Fancy Nancy: Fancy Day in Room 1-A” is the second story in the collection. Fancy Nancy was in a gloomy mood. It has rained all week long and they couldn’t go outside for recess at school. During story time everyone was in such a bad mood that Ms. Glass, their teacher, set down her book to find out what was bothering everyone. She decided they needed to come up with something fun to do, so she asked if anyone had any ideas. Finally after many suggestions, Fancy Nancy comes up with the perfect idea of having a Fancy Day. After much planning and making fancy place mats and napkin rings, crowns and fancy cupcakes, the party was under way. Only one problem, Ms. Glass is nowhere to be seen, and when she arrives she isn’t even ready for the party. Fancy Nancy and her class help out and the party is a success. Eliana and Ciara and Alyvia really are enjoying this book, so on to the next story.

“Fancy Nancy: Splendid Speller” is just what Fancy Nancy is when it comes to spelling. She and her friend Bree practice all week long for their first spelling test. But one word is making it hard for Fancy Nancy, and she ends up doing something she doesn’t feel too good about while taking the test. She feels very bad about what she did and when her teacher notices something is wrong, Fancy Nancy is able to talk about what is bothering her. After discussing her problem she comes to realize not everyone has to be perfect to be good at something.

“Fancy Nancy: Apples Galore” is super fun because Fancy Nancy’s class is going on an apple picking field trip. Her trip buddy is a boy named Lionel, and Lionel is a big prankster and gets into trouble. While Fancy Nancy is trying to pick her dads favorite apples, Lionel gets stuck in a tree and Fancy Nancy has to help out her friend before he falls. Ciara, Eliana and Alyvia couldn’t believe all the trouble Lionel gets into on the field trip.

The fifth story in the collection is called, “Fancy Nancy: The 100th Day of School.” The 100th Day of school is approaching, and Fancy Nancy is supposed to bring a collection of 100 things to school, the only problem is she can’t figure out what to bring. Her friends are bringing all sorts of neat things; Fancy Nancy has to think of something EXTRA special to bring to school. The only problem is she doesn’t have a collection of 100 things. What will Fancy Nancy do and can she find 100 things to bring in time for 100th day? Eliana loved the end of this story.

The last story in the collection, “Fancy Nancy: Our Thanksgiving Banquet,” rounds out the book nicely with a family holiday get together. Fancy Nancy and her family are off to Grandma and Grandpa’s house for Thanksgiving. She is having a great time, until dinner when she wishes she could sit at the grown-up table instead of the kiddie table. Soon Fancy Nancy realizes she liked the kiddie table better, grown-ups eat too slow and only talk about news. Fancy Nancy and her fabulous way with crafts make this Thanksgiving holiday one to remember.

"Fancy Nancy’s Fabulous Fall Storybook Collection” by Jane O’Connor is a favorite for all Fancy Nancy readers. Ciara, Eliana and Alyvia each had their own favorite stories in the book, and enjoyed remembering all the funny things that happened. We recommend this book for all Fancy Nancy fans; it is a wonderful collection of fabulously funny stories.
