John Grogan’s “Marley and the Great Easter Egg Hunt” begins with everyone making their way down to the town square for the Great Easter Egg Hunt! Marley and his family are on their way! Marley is a super excited dog ready to find the eggs! Every time he finds an egg, some other child comes and takes it. He doesn’t give up hope. He runs through the streets causing all kinds of funny chaos, while Cassie, Mom & Dad are right behind him trying to keep him out of trouble.

Marley finds some eggs in a basket in a store front window. He thinks these have to be the special eggs! He takes off and with such excitement he breaks all the eggs and has them all over himself. With raw eggs broken all over his fur, he takes off to the bakery where he thinks the baker is frosting the special egg. Leaping into the air, he covers himself with purple and pink frosting!

Marley is on a mission with very funny accidents on the way. What a super cute book with illustrations that kept Miles not only attentive but he laughed throughout the whole book! He carried the book around for several days talking about “arley” as he has trouble with his m’s right now. He seems to know the story pretty well and reads it back to us as best as his memory will allow. The pictures sure do help and completely tell the story, even if he can’t read the words just yet.

John Grogan’s “Marley and the Great Easter Egg Hunt” is a keeper! We love to read a seasonal book as it helps me get him prepared for another holiday. Miles will get to decorate Easter Eggs this year for the first time. Thanks to the decorations on the eggs in the book, he can reference them while we create. John Grogan knows how to write a good kids book and Richard Cowdrey illustrates some wonderful pages!
