In “Peepsqueak Wants a Friend!” by Leslie Ann Clark, all the baby chicks are headed out onto the farm to play. They are running out 2 by 2. Peepsqueak ran out too but he didn’t have a friend to pair up with. He hopped and skipped out of the barnyard to find himself a friend. Two of the chicks suggested he shouldn’t go into the woods. Peesqueak says “You are 2 but I am 1; my search for a friend has just begun.”

Peepsqueak is on the mission to find a friend to make him a pair. He manages to find a big bear in a cave. He brings the bear back to the barnyard and all the chicks run away. Peepsqueak reminds us that there is always room for more friends and that everyone can play together, even if they are different.

What a great lesson for children. I love the fact that this book represents friends. In the search for a best friend, he brought all of his chick friends together for a big group book reading. That’s what good friends are made of!

Miles practically memorized this book in one round and “read” it back to me. This is a good book for every child to have. “Peepsqueak Wants a Friend!” by Leslie Ann Clark is a great way to start off their little journeys in finding friends and knowing to love everyone.
