When I first received and flipped through the first pages of "How the Octopus Got Eight Arms Two Arms Are Not Enough” by Yvonne Arrive, I thought this was going to be such a cute and fun book to read.
From the first few pages to about half way through, the book was fun and entertaining with what was similar to old school nursery rhymes. I also thought the illustrations were down right cute as they looked like a child had drawn them with crayons. However I must say to my disappointment, the last half of the book turned out to be not so good after all. The storyline turned from fun and cute to words like " She found her husband nearly dead" and "He felt a sting, a gentle jerk" and the illustrations of the octopus lying on what appeared to be a surgeons table, with the doctor giving him some green medicine to drink and injecting the poor octopus with something that looked like blood in a needle.
Additionally the six arms which he was getting ready to sew on to Oscar were laying on the table next to him. “How the Octopus Got Eight Arms” by Yvonne Arrive turned out to be a bit scary for my two year old grandson in my opinion.
