Max Said Yes!: The Woodstock Story
Cayden: “It says that this happened when ‘mom and dad were young.’ Were you there mom? Why wouldn’t those other farmers let them have their music there? It is good Max said yes. He was a nice farmer. These pictures in the book are very colorful! There were lots of people there.”
Max: “That farmer is called Max like me! I would let them have their party in my field if I had a field like he did.”
The beginning part about when “mom and dad were young” was a little off as Woodstock took place five years before I was born. I think it would be more accurate for the book to say when “grandma and grandpa were young” as this would be a statement better suited to the intended audience. Overall though we found “Max Said Yes!: The Woodstock Story” to be very interesting and filled with eye-catching illustrations. I enjoyed the “A Note on the Woodstock Festival” section at the end of the book as I learned a little more about the history of the event.
