“Archie and the Pirates” by Marc Rosenthal is about a monkey who is shipwrecked on an island and makes a little tree fort to live in. One day Archie was out finding driftwood when a fearsome tiger came trudging out of the bushes and surprised Archie. Archie was sure he would be killed, but the tiger instead gave him a big wet tiger kiss. Since the tiger’s kits had moved away, the tiger, Beatrice, had been quite lonely and was happy to see the little monkey. Archie and Beatrice became friends.
One day an ibis (a kind of a bird) named Clarice woke Archie telling him that Beatrice had been captured by pirates. Will Archie be able to save Beatrice before it is too late? The pirates are truly horrible, but luckily Archie and his friends are at least as sneaky and inventive.
“Archie and the Pirates” by Marc Rosenthal is a very good, intriguing book and I would suggest this book for people who like adventures. The illustrations are very good and colorful. There are lots of details to look at.
