“Hello Real World!” is a quick read and quite essential for the traditional student.  In fact, I wouldn’t wait until college to put this title in the hands of the future—this book should be in every high school guidance counselor’s office and library.  As a college student, myself, I intend to give this book to my university’s career center before classes start in the fall.

The author, Jengyee Liang, uses her hard earned experience and conversational tone to offer real-time, real-life, real good advice.  She has created a terrific resource for motivated young adults interested in reaching their full potential both as a college student and also within their chosen career.  Not only does Ms. Liang provide clear, effective suggestions for finding internships and co-op opportunities, she also shines some light on what it looks and feels like to transition from student to professional.

Knowing Ms. Liang is not too far out of college, herself, and this is her first book, makes it easier for a seasoned worker-bee, like myself, to over-look a few, scattered naïve comments and suggestions that may prove helpful to other, more traditional, students.  Over all, the book reads well, almost as if you’re sitting with a friend over coffee.  It has moments where it slips into an assignment-like timbre but the author quickly recovers through her positive, winning attitude.

It is obvious she is a motivated, pro-active, career-minded lady with a great deal of advice to share.  Through her book, she reaches out to help others, which is always a wonderful thing.  Kudos to Jengyee Liang for taking her experience and making it count for all it’s worth; giving the gift of knowledge to those who will walk along a similar path as she.
